East Grand Forks Passes Resolution In Support Of F-M DiversionDespite some concerns over the amount of water coming to downstream communities, council members agreed the Fargo-Moorhead Area needs the support.
The East Grand Forks City Council passed a resolution tonight in support of the Fargo-Moorhead diversion.
Despite some concerns over the amount of water coming to downstream communities, council members agreed the F-M Area needs the support.
The Corps of engineers gave an August 9th deadline for public comments from the city.
The resolution states that the deadline isn't enough time and East Grand Forks would like to see an extension.
Officials say it's important for communities to help each other out.
"Their flood control project needs to get done, we can't disregard what happens to the communities surrounding it. But we are urging the Corps to take steps to mitigate the effects but also to not stop or slow down the project." East Grand Forks City Council member Mike Pokrzywinski said.
Council members say they want to know more about the affects in this area, but they are supportive of a bigger city like Fargo having the protection they need.
