UND President Robert Kelley and his wife Marcia met with community members to talk about the state of UND... now and its future.

Many of the questions were about expanding UND... on-campus and off.

Right now the university is focused on a massive renovation at the education school.

But has taken steps already to find a location for a downtown campus.

President Kelley said the work on the school of education should get under way next spring, with bids coming in by January.

Kelley says he recently toured downtown with Grand Forks mayor Michael Brown to look at vacant buildings that could be suitable for classes or offices.

Kelley says he could even envision a light rail system.

Marcia Kelley says these conversations help the university grow.

Marcia Kelley: "We need to be able to continue to reach out need to become more broader in what we do and more diversified in the ways we deliver education and engage in education with people."

This is the second time this year so far the Kelley's have met with community members to listen to community input about the university.
