The Rodney Carrington concert in Grand Forks has been cancelled. The Alerus Center said the country comedian will not appear on October 14th.
Executive Director Roger Swanson told WDAZ Carrington's management called off the concert because of other high-profile country acts coming to the area.
He also said that Carrington's camp was worried about competing for ticket sales.
This was all Swanson would tell us, and he would not give an on-camera interview and told us he, "didn't think the concert cancellation was a news story."
Tickets went on sale for the Carrington concert July 23rd for $50.75.
On July 19th, the Grand Forks City Council approved a $250,000 mconcert fund for the Alerus center.
Council members want the money to be the maximum amount the Alerus can use and if they need more money for an event, they would have to come back to council to get approval.
Right now there is no date for a re-scheduled Carrington concert, and according to the Alerus' website there are no other concerts planned for the rest of this year. There are UND sporting events planned at the center this fall.
