After 25 years with the Grand Forks Police Department, Detective Mike Iwan is retiring.
The juvenile investigator will be taking a new job in Arizona, and today his friends and family threw a retirement party for the detective.
His colleagues gave several speeches and presented him with plaques to honor his years of service.
In a few weeks he'll start work with the federal government after he moves to Arizona. He said at 60-years old he is excited for this next step.
According to him, his tenure in Grand Forks went by fast depending on the day.
" It feels like I've only been here for seven years. But the number of times I've had to push a squad car out of the back parking lot in January going, 'Yeah, now it feels like 25 years,'" said Iwan.
Iwan also spent 12 years on the SWAT team, was a k9 handler and a member of the Police Department Honor Guard.
