Tornado Hits Grand Forks County FarmTuesday's thunderstorm produced an F-2 tornado that did some damage.
This afternoon's thunderstorm produced an F-2 tornado that did some damage.
It hit a farmstead three miles south of Holmes, North Dakota which is in southern Grand Forks County.
Luckily Steve & Linda Walen were not home when the tornado hit their farm.
Steve Walen said he was out in the field bringing back his combines when the tornado hit. The tornado was "rain wrapped"....meaning it was raining so hard that no one could see the tornado.
Walen found two of his equipment sheds destroyed along with many trees knocked down. Walen says they were lucky the tornado took out trees all around their home but there was no damage to the house.
With all the damage its going to cost him.
"Oh, I have no idea I couldn't venture a guess but ah its going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars that's all I can say." Says Steve Walen.
Walen says that he could see debris as far as a half a mile away.
