Air Force officials at Grand Forks Air Force Base released the name of a military member assigned to the wing who committed suicide at the base August 6.
Airman Basic Cory McCord, a security forces Airman assigned to the 319th Security Forces Squadron died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 12 p.m. that day.
Airman McCord was in his work center at the time, along with several co-workers who attempted to prevent the shooting by communicating with him verbally.
Air Force officials are continuing the investigation into the incident. More information will be released once the investigation has been completed.
