Although some parts of our region didn't see much snow yesterday and last night...other areas are virtually all white.

Although some parts of our region didn't see much snow yesterday and last night...other areas are virtually all white. Today Carrington was covered with a blanket of white after the first snowfall of the season. To people from out of state it was a bit of a shock, but not necessarily bad.

Tammy Fruhwirth/Reno, NV: "It's very drastic actually, but it's beautiful. I bet it's going to be a long winter for people that live here!"

Patrick Oxley/Kansas City, MO: "We've got this four wheel drive, so we've gotten around pretty good but it kept us from going to work today!"

The three inches of snow made streets and sidewalks wet. Halloween decorations sat covered with snow. And trees that still had their leaves became part of the winter scene.

Jody Dunn/Carrington: "November or even December would've been better. It's way too early this year to have snow."

But some people were excited about the snow. This is the first snowstorm of the year here in Carrington and kids like Crystal are out making snow forts and they couldn't be more excited.

Sheila Bickett: "They just kind of want to look out the window all the time. Yeah, it's great. They love it. They do, we don't!"

People in Carrington say the snow didn't make it hard to drive around.

The Valley City area got 7-and-a-half inches of snow today. Devils Lake got about 3-and-a-half.
