FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has gotten more than 370 comments on a proposed Red River diversion project in the Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., area.

Less than a dozen of the comments from groups and individuals were supportive of the $1.5 billion project.

Craig Evans, a co-manager for the project, says that type of response is to be expected, because people who support something don't take the time to comment.

Evans cautions that the corps doesn't consider the number of comments for or against the project but weighs the issues presented.

The corps on Thursday plans to release a decision on whether to slow the process. The current schedule calls for a feasibility study to be ready by December for recommendation to Congress.
