BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Bismarck attorney Tim Purdon has been sworn in as North Dakota's U.S. attorney.
Purdon was sworn in Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Daniel L. Hovland in chambers at the William Guy Federal Building in Bismarck.
The former Democratic national committeeman succeeds Republican Drew Wrigley as North Dakota's top federal prosecutor.
Assistant U.S. attorney Lynn Jordheim had been serving as interim U.S. attorney since Wrigley resigned almost a year ago.
President Obama nominated the 41-year-old Purdon last February, and Purdon was confirmed by the U.S. Senate earlier this month.
