When parents drove their kids to school today at Lewis and Clark in Grand Forks, some were upset to road construction still going on. Parents say they wish the construction could have been done by now before their kids went to school to make sure that their kids are safe.
People say that we have two seasons in North Dakota, Winter and Road Construction. But now that school season is here, some parents were upset today to see construction on the sidewalks around Lewis and Clark elementary. They say the school zones should have taken priority earlier this summer.
Chris Dawes a Parent of a child who attends Lewis and Clark says "It would have been nice if the top priority were the areas around schools and that was take care of around the summers so when we come back to school it wasn't so difficult."
In the mornings the school can get a little crowded with the small streets, cars, and kids. One parents says she was concerned at first but understands.
Parent Melissa Mozinski says "I was a little up set at first why they waited so long to do it, then I realized that they didn't want to do it at the end of the school year last year and then with the pool."
"We knew that there was construction and they should of had that done, they should have started earlier and has it done last week" said Mandi Manley.
Construction on 13th Ave South Should be finished by September 30th.All three parents say that Opp Construction did a good job signing the area and appreciates the job they do.
"Its not easy they got a lot on their plate to." Dawes says.
