St. Michael's Catholic Church and school are taking steps to alert parents about a situation that happened earlier this month. A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with exposing himself to three little girls nearby.

Lt. Rahn Farder/GFP "The juveniles got the license and description of his vehicle," said Lt. Rahn Farder with the Grand Forks Police Department.

He said the description led to the arrest of a Grand Forks man charged with indecent exposure and solicitation of a minor.

Police say 28-year-old Michael Novak exposed himself to three little girls on August 15. It happened near St. Michael's Catholic Church and School.

" If there's ever a situation where the school needs to be aware of or the teachers need to know things. Students are in danger. We certainly communicate with the schools," said Farder.

Even though it did not happen on St. Michael's property, they are taking action. They are sending a letter to parents letting them know what happened.

" The information we have is it occurred across the street from the church." Just on the parking lot at the 5th Avenue and North 5th Street intersection. Across the street, is St. Michael's.

The letter from the school explains that the incident was not on school or church property and that it happened before school started. The school is offering parents a safety classes to help them talk to their kids about strangers.

"This is an isolated incident. We haven't had any specialized patrol because of one incident."
