The Alerus Center is looking for a new executive director again. This comes after current director, Roger Swanson, is quitting after less than five months on the job.
Before that Steve Hyman had high hopes, but his time as executive director was also short-lived at two years.
Doug Kuhnel, the Senior Vice President at VenuWorks, says, “The goal is to get business period. That's the goal, and to be able to kind of heal these wounds that have been happening in Grand Forks for whatever reason.
Kuhnel is with Venuworks, the company that contracts with the city to run the building.
Kuhnel says, “We're going to enter into a national search, which we've got some good candidates already lined up.”
As far as why Swanson is leaving, Kuhnel says he wants to be closer to his family in the Twin Cities area.
“Be there for his daughter and her sports and everything else she's involved in.”
Kuhnel says Swanson will now work for the VenuWorks corporate office in a business development position.
“We thought we had the right person, and I thought Roger was making great headway, and we understood that when he came that it hits everybody different, and you know being away, and I think there are some great challenges there.”
There also might be some reformatting done with the Alerus Center, but Kuhnel says they're not talking about that until they select a new executive director.
