Thief River Falls residents are finding out how their retail economy is fairing. The Thief River Falls Chamber and Jobs incorporated asked an economist for the University of Minnesota Extension center to find out what's booming in their economy.
The study assessed Thief river falls and Pennington County. The study said that merchandise, restaurants, and vehicle parts were doing well locally in the economy.
Areas like electronics, building materials and amusement and recreation are not doing as well.
But it really showed in what areas they are attracting and losing customers.
"There is strong pull to bring people from surrounding communities, I think it will show in a very macro way some of the spending behaviors and spending patterns" says Art Nash who is a Community Economist with the University of Minnesota Extension Center.
This is only one of three studies that the The Chamber and Jobs Incorporated have planned for the area.
