MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The city of Minneapolis is set to unveil
plans for a memorial to victims of the Interstate 35W bridge
collapse three years ago.
The push for a memorial got a boost when a recent legal
settlement set aside $1.5 million for the cause. Before that,
fundraising had been slow.
Thirteen people died in the disaster and more than 100 others
were hurt.
An earlier design for the memorial called for 13 steel girders,
one to represent each of the dead, along with other elements. It
wasn't clear if the design to be unveiled Thursday afternoon would
follow that plan.
