Honoring student soldiers is the theme of University of North Dakota's yearly observation to September 11th.

Saturday will mark nine years since The World Trade Center was attacked.

Student Body President Matthew Bakke led the group in a moment of silence in memory of lives lost in the 9-11 attacks and fallen troops.

UND Student Government sponsors the program as a way to say thank you to the men and women in the armed forces.

Students in the ROTC program also gave speeches about carrying extra responsibilities while in college.

Bakke said it is just one part of a highly-regarded tradition at UND.

" We look forward to it. We would like to thank our troops overseas, specifically the student troops overseas who are defending our freedoms."

A drumline from the River Cities Music Group provided music afterwards.
