Rain Causes A Delay In Harvest

With over an inch of rain today, farmers' fields are a little bit too wet for harvest time.

Officials say with too much rain there are delays in work schedules and it's hard to get machinery out on the fields.

They say although they are close to long-term averages right now, farmers need warm weather to continue the harvest.

Officials say farmers are working hard to get the remaining crops but right now it's a waiting game.

"Well really right now all you can do is wait for the fields to dry out and the crop to dry down weather wise. Right now they're getting the edible beans out and the sugar beets are the main concern right now," NDSU Extension Agent Willie Huot said.

Huot says the farther the harvest is pushed back, the harder it is on farmers to get everything done.
