Tour de Forks Held Sunday In Grand ForksRaising awareness and money to fight breast cancer
The Tour de Forks was held Sunday in Grand Forks, with supporters biking, walking and running to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.
The money raised goes to the Grand Forks Breast Cancer Coalition to provide mammograms to men and women who don't have health insurance or can't afford them.
Volunteers say around 150 runners and bikers showed up Sunday, and many of them have been affected or know someone with cancer.
People say it's a good way to come together to share stories and get support.
"There are definitely people that come out because they know somebody who's had breast cancer, or that are survivors of breast cancer and there are family and friends who have lost somebody to breast cancer. I think it's very important to come out and raise awareness and raise money for breast cancer awareness," American Medical Women's Associtaion President Sarah Chalmers said.
Organizers say this event helps many people, and they hope to hold it for years to come.
