The Grand Forks City Finance and Development Committee approved a public hearing to look at the budget for low income housing and other charitable projects in the area.

The CDBG and Home Programs presented their 2011 allocations budget.

The budget outlines a five-year strategy to help expand opportunities for providing low-income housing.

The budget also looks at an elevator replacement for the salvation army and funds for the Listen Center, as well as other projects.

Officials said with the sale of some properties in town, they have extra cash to spend.

" We'll have a source of revenue to help people get into homes in those areas in town," said City Council Member Doug Christensen

The hearing is set for November 1st.
