A low unemployment rate is one of the reasons the housing market is doing better in North Dakota than the national average.
This is just one of the subjects that will be discussed at the 2010 Realtor Convention of the Dakotas.
The three day event is being held at the Alerus Center.
Realtors from North Dakota and South Dakota will take part in educational sessions and talk about issues important to the industry.
Area realtors said doing things differently is another reason for the better market in North Dakota.
" We didn't see the sub prime lending some of the other markets were seeing. They weren't issuing as many loans with no down payments," said Mavis Winkels, President of the Grand Forks Area Association of Realtors.
The in-coming president of that National Association of Realtors, Ronald Phipps will speak on the third day of the convention.
