MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A new poll shows DFL candidate Mark Dayton has an edge over Republican candidate Tom Emmer in the race for governor. But Independence Party candidate Tom Horner is gaining ground.

Results of the new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll were published

Sunday.

The poll of likely voters shows Dayton leads Emmer 39 percent to 30 percent. That's nearly unchanged from a similar poll taken in July.

The poll shows 18 percent of those surveyed would choose Horner. That's up from 13 percent in July.

The telephone poll of 949 likely voters was taken Sept. 20 through 23. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
