BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's oil patch set a monthly production record in July.
State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms says the state produced 9.9 million barrels of oil during the month, up from 9.4 million barrels in June.
Helms says a record 5,051 wells were producing in July, up from the previous record of 4,977 set in June. He says nearly all are drilling the rich Bakken shale and Three Forks-Sanish oil reservoirs in western North Dakota.
North Dakota natural gas production in July was pegged at a record 9.9 million cubic feet, up from 9 million cubic feet in June.
