The Grand Forks County Commission decided last month to have early voting again this year. The first time they tried it was in 2008.
County Auditor Debbie Nelson says holding the early voting did not increase the number of voters in the last election over past years. But it did cut down on the lines. Because of the additional labor of having the extra eight days of polls, it is a little more expensive, but Nelson says she has not had any complaints.
Nelson says the county will save about $2,500 this year because the early voting will be held at the county office building instead of the Alerus Center.
The early voting will take place at the Grand Forks County office building starting Thursday, October 21st through Friday, October 29th. Excluding monday.
Polls will be open Monday through Friday from ten am to six pm.
And then on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Early voters need to bring identification of their residential address to the polls.
