A group made a stop in East Grand Forks to talk about some of the challenges facing community developments.
Strong Towns said they are advocates of self-sufficient community growth.
The group gave a presentation to East Grand Forks City Council members.
They meet with communities to talk about costs related to maintaining developments.
According to Strong Towns, most cities do not generate enough revenue from these new neighborhoods to keep them going.
" We're either going to have to see very large changes in the amount of taxes we pay in services or we're going to have to evolve in our development patterns so we can afford the way we live," said planner Charles Marohn.
Strong Towns meets with city leaders all over the midwest.
