Twolves Star Jefferson Has Sore Achilles' Tendon

Jefferson did not participate in Tuesday morning's shootaround in Denver, where the Timberwolves were playing an exhibition

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota's Al Jefferson is still bothered by Achilles' tendinitis.

Jefferson did not participate in Tuesday morning's shootaround in Denver, where the Timberwolves were playing an exhibition. Team spokesman Mark Rosenberg says Jefferson is also fighting a cold, unsure if the star forward would suit up against the Nuggets.

Jefferson sat out during the fourth quarter Saturday against Milwaukee because of soreness in the tendon, and he didn't practice Monday.

Jefferson is coming back from major surgery, after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last season. The Wolves are also missing their other top big man, Kevin Love, who will need at least six weeks to recover from a broken left hand.
