Two Minneapolis Cops Hurt in Squad Car Crash

Two Minneapolis police officers are recovering after their squad car was involved in a three-car crash.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two Minneapolis police officers are recovering after their squad car was involved in a three-car crash.

It happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a traffic light at a downtown intersection as the officers responded to a report of gunfire.

WCCO-TV reports the crash demolished the front of the squad car. Another car had front-end damage while the third car had read-end damage.

The Star Tribune reports the officers were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where one was admitted to be treated for a dislocated hip and leg injuries. The other was treated for a broken ankle. Police say one of the other two drivers appeared to have minor injuries.

Police are trying to determine what caused the crash.
