Ramsey County Votes Already Coming In

In 2008 Ramsey County became a vote-by-mail county. Ever since, the county has seen a good voter turn-out.

This year, people in Ramsey County were sent ballots in mid-September, more than 2,000 of them.

Already more than 500 have have been returned.

Ramsey County Auditor Elizabeth Fischer says the county changed to vote-by-mail because it's harder to find poll workers, the county had problems locating handicap accessible polling places, and the turn-out was small in some areas.

County officials say they are pleased with the way the process is going.

"Usually in an off presidential year we haven't but like I said this is only our 4th election using vote by mail," explained Fischer.

Mail-in ballots must be post-marked or brought to the county auditor's office by November 1st.
