For the first time, the city of Grand Forks has sprayed for mosquitoes in October.

The season-long fight with the pesky biters continues along with our warm weather.

Grand Forks Mosquito control is running its budget into the red as need to spray for mosquitoes continues.

Todd Hanson of Grand Forks mosquito control say they have had to spray city-wide 17 time this year.

And they are having to continue to spray the high traffic areas like parks, practice fields, and the greenway.

Hanson says there are more mosquitoes out there than the count traps are showing.

Hanson says there were seven cases of the mosquito-borne West Nile virus statewide and none of them were in Grand Forks county.
