NDUS Chancellor Touring State Colleges
The North Dakota University System will be asking the legislature to increase its budget. Chancellor Bill Goetz stopped at Lake Region State College Thursday as part of a tour of state colleges.
In 2009, more than 45,000 students were enrolled in 11 universities throughout the state.
Goetz says 71 percent of those students were full time.
The new strategic plan includes increasing the total number of certificates, associate, and baccalaureate degrees awarded by four percent.
What really puts North Dakota on the map, Goetz says, is leadership and what the schools have to offer.
"With the thought in mind, that we want students to be successful. We want them to have access to programs and we want to do it in a cost efficient way," explained Goetz.
There are more than 1000 programs currently offered to students in North Dakota.
