MINNEWAUKAN, N.D. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan says it's "a disgrace" that Benson County has decided not to have a polling site on the Spirit Lake Reservation in the November election.

County Auditor Bonnie Erickson says commissioners decided to have only one polling site in the county to see if mail voting will increase voter turnout and also save money. The lone site will be at the courthouse in Minnewaukan.

Dorgan tells the Minot Daily News that he hopes the commissioners will change their mind. He says Spirit Lake will be the only reservation in the state without a polling site.

Erickson says the reservation was not singled out. She says other areas of the county also will not have polling sites.
