Grand Forks buildings to get energy audits

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks is paying an estimated $50,000 on energy audits of a dozen city buildings.

The Grand Forks Herald reports that the City Council approved the request by city staff. The buildings range from a small fire station to City Hall.

The goal is to find ways to save money on energy. The contractor estimates that work could cost $2 million. Officials have estimated that energy efficiency upgrades could save the city about $200,000 annually.
