A professor and chair of the Department of Pathology at UND has been elected president of the National Assocation of Medical Examiners.

Mary Ann Sens of the schools of medicine and health sciences was selected by the NAME nomination committee.

She has published over 110 scientific articles, five book chapters and is the Grand Forks County coroner.

She says she has always been active with NAME. She calls it the premier organization for forensic pathologists and death investigators.

This is the first time someone from a rural state will represent them.

" So this will be a good time for the rural states and rural parts of the country to have their agenda and differences aired in a national forum."

Sens will take over for her one year term in January.
