STEELE, N.D. (AP) - A judge has tentatively moved trials for Kidder County Sheriff Doug Howard from Steele to Dickinson.
Howard's separate trials on misdemeanor charges of corrupt practices and disorderly conduct will be held in Dickinson provided there are enough hotel rooms for witnesses and court officials. Housing is tight in western North Dakota because of the booming oil industry.
Trial dates were not immediately set.
Howard is accused of sexually harassing a county employee and trying to intimidate people about the upcoming sheriff's election. Howard is running for re-election against his deputy, John Lemieux.
Defense attorney Bruce Quick agreed to separate the trials and hold both in Dickinson.
