DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — Devils Lake police say a St. Michael woman lost several thousand dollars in an e-mail scam involving a supposed shopping program in the city.
Authorities say the woman was sent several counterfeit money orders to cash. She was told to keep a small amount of the money to pay for meals at local restaurants and send the rest of the money to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Police say the woman wired $7,500 overseas before contacting authorities.
