Oslo city leaders had planned on putting that question on the ballot but missed the deadline. Now they will put it to a vote of the people in January.

In November a number of Minnesota towns will vote on whether to allow a Sunday opening for bars. Some city leaders say it's a way to bring in some extra dollars in a tight economy.

Oslo city leaders had planned on putting that question on the ballot but missed the deadline. Now they will put it to a vote of the people in January.

City Councilman Scott Kosmatka says it would give the bar's new owner a better chance at success.

"It also gives the option to sell food. In the evenings where there is no place to eat in town after two o'clock, basically he wants to keep the local dollar at home," Kosmatka said.

Since prohibition, some Minnesota towns have kept the law in place preventing bars to open on Sunday.

State law requires a city wide vote to allow a Sunday bar opening.
