GF School Board Finds Enough Evidence To Fire Teacher

The Grand Forks School Board at its meeting Thursday night voted that there was enough evidence that teacher Cornel Kilber showed conduct unbecoming a teacher. Kilber is an industrial technology teacher at Schroeder Middle School in Grand Forks. Kilber will be fired at a meeting in the next 30 days.

The Grand Forks School Board at its meeting Thursday night voted that there was enough evidence that teacher Cornel Kilber showed conduct unbecoming a teacher. Kilber is an industrial technology teacher at Schroeder Middle School in Grand Forks.

The board also found that the charge of conduct unbecoming a teacher was not refuted, and that the board will schedule a meeting in the next 30 days to finalize firing Kilber. It is a two-step process, and Kilber will remain on leave until the final meeting. Kilber has been on administrative leave since September.

The meeting Thursday night lasted almost ten hours.

It was moved by Pohlman and seconded by St. Onge that the board find the charge of conduct unbecoming a teacher and reasons for discharge set forth in Exhibit No. 1 have been sustained with evidence produced at this hearing; that said charge has not been refuted; and that concise and explicit findings of fact and separate conclusions of law be prepared for subsequent board action at a meeting to be scheduled within the next thirty days for the purpose of finalizing the discharge of Mr. Cornel Kilber. Motion carried upon roll call vote as follows:

Aye: Grandstrand, Jenkins, Lamb, Lunn, Palmiscno, Pohlman, Shabb, St. Onge

Nay: Ericson
