North Dakota Teacher of the Year

Teacher of the year announced at convention in Grand Forks

A biology teacher from DesLacs-Burlington is North Dakota's teacher of the year.

Mary Eldredge-Sandbo was named teacher of the year at the NDEA Instructional Conference in Grand Forks today.

Eldredge-Sandbo has been a teacher for 26 years and says she credits her long career to the other teachers she works with.

She says teaching is a group effort.

Mary Eldredge-Sandbo: "But the thing that I love is that I teach with a whole bunch of wonderful people, so if I don't meet a kid's needs, hopefull there is somebody else that is going to and we pick up eachother's slack and we work together."

Two area teachers... Max Laird from Community High School in Grand Forks and Mike Voglewede of Northwood were finalists for the award.
