Democrats Hold Cash Advantage
Minnesota's Democratic Party raised twice as much money as Republicans last month and had far more in the bank entering the October campaign sprint.By: Associated Press, WDAZ
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Monthly financial reports filed with federal election regulators show that Democrats pulled in $770,000 to the Republicans' $327,000 in September. Both parties are carrying substantial debt, but the state GOP owes twice as much to vendors and employees.
The report from state Democrats showed $277,000 in available cash at the start of October. Republicans had $7,200.
The money chase among parties matters because they have a large hand in get-out-the-vote efforts in the leadup to Election Day.
Both parties have had big-name politicians in town for October fundraisers.
