The University of North Dakota welcomed home a nationally recognized and celebrated alum. His face is one seen on a number of TV shows and films, and now Sam Anderson is having a great conversation.
The University of North Dakota hosted the event, with WDAZ anchor Terry Dullum moderating. Anderson has had recurring roles on Angel, ER, Friends and a main role on ABC's Lost.
"I grew up in a small town in South Dakota near Watertown called Clark. There wasn't much to do there and my grandfather, great old southern guy from Kentucky, loved the movies. I watched him watching the movies and I was just fascinated, the way a kid gets fascinated, how something that was pretend could take somebody away," Anderson said.
Watching those movies would one day lead to 137 roles in TV and film, a feat the 65-year-old actor credits to his alma mater, UND.
Anderson earned two degrees at UND in theatre and creative writing. He just completed filming a movie with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson.
