Black Bears belt Sioux 7-3Maine scores three power-play goals in first period, hands Sioux their first loss
ORONO, Maine (AP) - Brian Flynn had two of Maine's five first-period goals as the Black Bears cruised to a 7-3 win over second-ranked North Dakota on Friday in men's college hockey.
Gustav Nyquist had a goal and two assists and Robby Dee and Tanner House added a goal and an assist each as Maine (2-1-2) handed North Dakota (3-1-1) its first loss of the season in convincing fashion.
Maine scored all three of its power-play goals in the first period. The Black Bears outshot North Dakota just 10-9, but they were 3-for-9 with a man advantage.
Dee and Flynn made it 3-0 before the Fighting Sioux got on the board. Aaron Dell replaced Brad Eidsness in goal in the firstperiod and made 18 saves. Eidsness had just two saves.
It was 7-1 before North Dakota scored two late goals on Shawn Sirman, who had 19 saves.
Brad Malone had a goal and assist for the Fighting Sioux.
