Highway Patrol Gearing Up For Winter Weather

With rain turning to snow, the North Dakota Highway Patrol is gearing up for a busy week.

Captain Kyle Ternes says the first snowfall has them quite busy as many drivers are still adjusting to the changing road conditions.

Ternes says the patrol is ready for this week's weather and have made the necessary changes so that they have the available units.

He says the changes to the roadway result in many collisions and vehicles in the ditch.

People are asked to slow down and increase their following distance.

Ternes says no matter what the weather may be like this week, the Highway Patrol is prepared.

Ternes says it's good to have your tires checked and always make sure to let people know where you are going and what route you're going to take to get there.
