MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Officials at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport are asking travelers to prepare for delays as a massive windstorm blows into the Twin Cities.

Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan says the airport was operating all three of its runways at mid-morning Tuesday but forecasters expect the winds to pick up considerably in the afternoon.

He says they are concerned the airport could go down to one runway, which would cut arrivals in half.

Hogan says travelers with flights scheduled to leave this afternoon should check with their airline before going to the airport.

Hogan reports that about 40 flights have already been canceled due to closures or delays at other airports in the Midwest affected by the storm.
