BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Morning and early afternoon flights in Minot have been canceled because of strong winds buffeting the Dakotas.

The airport says both Delta and United flights are canceled.

Forecasters warn that the first significant snowfall of the season is not far behind the wind.

Much of North Dakota is under a blizzard warning. The National Weather Service says up to 10 inches of snow could fall in some areas into early Wednesday. The snow is expected across North Dakota and into northern South Dakota.

National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Hamilton says the deepest snow is expected in north-central and northeast North Dakota.
