FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A convicted North Dakota drug dealer accused of supplying methamphetamine that led to a man's death has been sentenced in federal court.

Jesse Walters was charged on three counts, including possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He pleaded guilty in August.

Prosecutors say Walters continued to deal drugs after his friend died from an overdose.

U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson on Thursday sentenced Walters to 27 years in prison, including 20 years on the drug charge and seven years on weapons charges.

The sentencing came on Walters' 25th birthday.
