MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A federal judge has rejected a group's request to OK them wearing buttons that say "Please I.D. Me" to polling places Tuesday.

Judge Joan Ericksen ruled Monday in Minneapolis after considering arguments from the group and from election officials who argued that the buttons could be seen as having a political message.

Minnesota Majority was among groups seeking a temporary restraining order to allow the buttons, as well as tea party T-shirts. Attorney Erick Kaardal had argued that the issue on the button isn't on the ballot.

But an attorney for election officials pointed out that some candidates have said they want a law requiring voters to show photo ID.

It's up to poll judges to enforce the prohibition against voters wearing political material.
