DENVER (AP) — Injured University of Denver forward Jesse Martin has feeling in all extremities and holds no grudges against the North Dakota player who checked him, fracturing a vertebrae in his neck.

Pioneers coach George Gwozdecky said Monday that Martin took a phone call from Fighting Sioux forward Brad Malone, and that he doesn't "hold any ill will toward the young guy."

Martin was hurt Saturday night when Malone rammed into him. There was no penalty called at first, but with Martin down on the ice the officials gave Malone a 5-minute charging penalty and a game misconduct.

Gwozdecky said he didn't think the hit was "malicious" or "dirty."

Martin remains hospitalized in Minnesota and Gwozdecky said they're hoping "surgery will not be required."
