The American Heart Association gives out the Start Fit-Friendly Company award once a year to an organization or company that helps keep their employees healthy.
One of UND's programs "Tennis Shoes Tuesday" has employees exercising over their lunch break.
One university employee has lost more than 90 pounds.
"It's going to inspire others, there might be others that are sitting around not doing anything about it. The fact that more are doing it, as we go along more and more of us are going to continue to get on board and be healthier." UND student services cordinator Kayla Hotvedt said.
UND is the first company/organization in North Dakota to receive this award.
