BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Republican North Dakota Tax Commissioner Cory Fong has won his second four-year term, beating Democratic challenger Cynthia Kaldor.
With 33 percent of precincts reporting, Fong had 68 percent of the vote and Kaldor 29 percent.
Fong has been tax commissioner since June 2005, when he was appointed by Gov. John Hoeven. Fong ran his first successful campaign for the post a year later.
Kaldor was tabbed at the North Dakota Democratic convention to run against Fong, after she attempted to recruit other candidates.
