MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Republicans have roared back from puny minorities to take control of both chambers of the Minnesota Legislature for the first time in 38 years.

GOP challengers upset at least 21 House members to take control of that chamber after four years in the minority.

One House race was too close to call early Wednesday and three others were close enough to trigger automatic recounts.

The Republican gains were more dramatic in the Senate, where the party's candidates snatched 16 seats from Democrats to win a seven-vote advantage. It's a stunning turnaround for a caucus that faced a veto-proof Democratic majority for the past two years.
