BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Mandatory recounts are likely in two North Dakota House races, and a defeated state senator could demand another tally.
Unofficial results show incumbent Democratic Reps. Lois Delmore of Grand Forks and Ed Gruchalla of Fargo winning re-election Tuesday by fewer than 10 votes each.
Both margins are close enough to require a recount at taxpayer expense. Republican Don Dietrich trailed Delmore by six votes, while Republican House candidate Andrew Marschall was eight votes behind Gruchalla.
In Wahpeton, incumbent Democratic Sen. Arden Anderson lost his seat to Larry Luick (LOO'-ick) of Fairmount by 36 votes in unofficial returns. It's close enough for Anderson to request a recount if he's willing to pay the cost of doing it.
