BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — About 47 percent of North Dakota's eligible voters cast ballots in this year's general election.

The North Dakota secretary of state's website says with all precincts reporting Wednesday, 236,233 people voted in Tuesday's election.

The North Dakota State Data Center in Fargo estimates that 502,873 people of voting age live in the state. North Dakota doesn't have voter registration.

The turnout is similar to North Dakota's voter numbers in the state's previous two elections when the president and governor weren't on the ballot.

Four years ago, about 44 percent of eligible North Dakotans voted. In 2002, the turnout was just over 49 percent.
